SERVICES
What We Do
We at Grade 1 Conservation Ltd carry out all elements of heritage building conservation and restoration works with the inclusion of the following crafts:
CARPENTRY & JOINERY
We carry out any form of Carpentry and Joinery from Oak framed building, repairs such as traditional splice work to repairing traditional sliding sash windows. We also supply and fix any type of Joinery.
Traditional Lime Plastering And Render
We repair and replicate any ornate work from forming the profile of a cornice and running it in in-situ to casting and fixing the embellishments. We also carry out lime render work flat or complete with ashlar markings and stucco render.
TRADITIONAL MASONRY AND BRICKWORK REPAIR
We carry out stone repairs such as recording, taking down and rebuilding adopting the sympathetic repair approach and using the “Like for Like” methodology. We can carry out desk top surveys to find out what type of stone has originally been used and use the active quarries to match the stone. We carry out brickwork repairs again, we offer brick matching services. We also carry out brickwork stabilisation works such as helifix crack stitching.
TRADITIONAL LIME POINTING
We offer advice and carry out all aspects of lime pointing from the use of hydraulic and non hydraulic limes and lime putties. Allied to this, we can carry out samples using a variety of aggregates and mixes to suit the fabric of the building for both colour and texture.
TRADITIONAL ROOFING AND LEADWORK
We carry out access scaffolds to maintain high-level roof repairs and general maintenance. These are predominately slate replacements along with the maintenance of leadwork, parapet maintenance, guttering maintenance and ridge repairs.
TRADITIONAL PAINTING AND DECORATING
We carry out painting and decorating with the inclusion of: fine decoration, gilding and metal Leaf, contemporary finishes, graining, marbling, trompe l’Oeil and stencilling
STAINED GLASS AND LEADED LIGHTS
We carry out stained glass and leaded light repairs along with lead came replacements, glazing repairs, and saddle bar installations.
METALWORK
We carry out maintenance on metal gates and railings. Also, we can supply fixtures, fittings and purpose made items in stainless steel or galvanised metal. We can also have items hand forged using traditional blacksmithing techniques.
We carry out conditional surveys give budget advice and offer reports on the repair requirements of existing historic buildings. We feel that it is essential to use the right materials that will match or be sympathetic to the existing fabric of the building. We also carry out insurance work giving the client advice and taking a holistic approach of the repairs.
